Stories of paranormal activity floods the halls of the Stanley Hotel leaving guests curious if all these stories are true. When Stephen King stayed in the famous room 217 it was at the end of the season and him and his wife were the only people in the hotel. It was said that he saw two twins, a boy and a girl playing in the hallway who were children of a maid that use to work at the hotel a long time ago (Hage). In 1911 a maid named Mrs. Wilson was lighting a gas lamp, there was a leak and the room blew up. She is reported to still be there in room 217 and is known for unpacking your clothes for you neatly in the dressers and stashing away your luggage in the closet when you leave the room. The fourth floor of the Stanley Hotel is said to be the most haunted floor which includes room 401 where a man reported that he set his rings side by side on top of a dresser, when he came back they were staked up on top of eachother. Theres also been jewlary, watches, and luggage that goes missing in this room. In room 302 two maids were cleaning up the room and stepped out for a minute to talk to somebody, came back in and all the lamps were on the floor, pictures were off the wall, and they didnt hear anything. Also on the third floor of the hotel the windows like to move up and down by themselves frequently. Down by the kitchen the staff has heard a party going on in the ballroom and when they go to check on it there is no one there. The piano would also start playing by itself and it is said that it is Freelan O. Stanley's wife who use to play the piano a long time ago(True Ghost Tales). Those are only a few of many stories reported at the Stanley Hotel, leaving people to question if its haunted or not.
